Vikings CB Alexander to undergo surgery, will miss Saturday's game in SF

Atlanta Falcons v Minnesota Vikings

Those holding out hope for the return of nickel cornerback Mackensie Alexander for this weekend's game in San Francisco were delivered a bit of bad news on Tuesday.

Word leaked out Tuesday morning that Alexander will be undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his injured knee to replace a small tear in his lateral meniscus.

While that does mean that he will not be available on Saturday versus the 49ers, it does not rule him out if the Vikings were to continue winning and make a deep playoff run.

Last weekend the Vikings addressed the absence of Alexander and Mike Hughes by moving veteran safety Andrew Sendejo inside to be the team's primary nickel corner. Sendejo held his own even coming up with a big pass breakup late in the game to slow a Saints drive.
