Mike Boone Named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week | #KFANVikes

Eagan, Minn. (October 7, 2020) – Vikings RB Mike Boone has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against the Houston Texans in Week 4.

Boone, a third-year pro who went undrafted out of Cincinnati in 2018, forced a fumble from Texans punt returner DeAndre Carter, a momentum-changing play in the first quarter of the Viking first victory of the season. The loose ball was recovered by Minnesota and the resulting drive ended with a field goal that gave the Vikings a 10-0 lead, on the way to a 31-23 road win.

Boone is honored as NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for the first time in his career and is the first non-specialist to earn the accolade since WR Adam Thielen was tabbed NFC Special Teams Player of the Week vs. Carolina in Week 13 of the 2014 season.

The Vikings have had 18 different players claim 24 total NFC Player of the Week Honors since Head Coach Mike Zimmer’s hire in 2014.
