After being sent home from the team's facility on Thursday due to Illness, the Minnesota Vikings began putting quarterback Kirk Cousins through the protocol to test for COVID-19. Friday morning, head coach Kevin O'Connell confirmed that Cousins had indeed tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss the team's first preseason game on Sunday in Las Vegas.
Cousins, who is well noted to not be vaccinated, will be away from the team for the next few days as he rests up and hopes for a negative test next week. This marks the second time that Cousins has tested positive for COVID-19 previously testing positive on December 31st, 2021.
With Cousins out this Sunday, the quarterback reps will be split roughly 50/50 between Kellen Mond and Sean Mannion, Cousins "Co-backup" qbs according to the team's unofficial depth chart. Kevin O'Connell shared that he was not sure yet who would be the starter, but both QBs would see a ton of time.
